Mark

Managing Director

Spanning over a 40-year career, Mark has formed lasting relationships with clients and colleagues. He is passionate about maintaining manufacturing and engineering services in Australia and providing opportunities and training to young engineers.

Mark first started out as an electrical apprentice at Alcoa while studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic). Mark is also registered as an A-Class Electrician (Victoria). Throughout his career Mark has worked in many countries across the world including in America, New Zealand, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia. He brings real world experience and world best practice to engineering solutions at Insight Engineering.

As Managing Director Mark ensures that the business is running efficiently, liaising with stakeholders, reviewing work and providing guidance to our staff and clients.

When it comes to hands-on skills, Mark has extensive expertise in design, commissioning of control systems, project management and cost control. He also has experience in power distribution (high and low voltage) while creating, auditing and submitting technical documentation.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with family, farming, snow skiing, cricket and getting involved in his local community.

Richard

Operations Manager

Richard started his career in the 1980s as an apprentice electrician with Alcoa spurred on by a strong interest in electronic projects, particularly audio and hifi. He now holds a Diploma of Project Management and an A-Class electrician’s licence.

Richard is inspired by continuous improvement, new challenges and client satisfaction. He finds his team members a great motivation and aspires to see them consistently up-skill and transform new market sectors and opportunities.

Richard’s hands-on expertise includes electrical design documentation, quality assurance documentation and the commissioning of electrical and control systems. He is also skilled in creating and submitting technical documentation, project management, process definition, electrical/automation and instrumentation design documentation, and energy audits.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys managing house projects such as renovations and gardening. He also gets a thrill from having a car project. One project in particular was his Z3 Roadster. From a young age, Richard had an interest in audio and he still loves good-quality audio and home theatre.

John

Engineering Manager

John is an electrical engineer with Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) and Functional Safety Engineering (TÜV Rheinland, #8718/14, Machinery) qualifications. John is also a registered building practitioner (electrical engineer – VBA registration EE 42965). He has worked in the industrial automation field for two decades and thoroughly enjoys his profession and the people he works with and for.

John has wide ranging areas of expertise including; safety consultancy, MCC design, project management, process definition, electrical design documentation (AutoCAD electrical), building services, PLC programming on various platforms, HMI and SCADA programming on various platforms, commissioning of electrical and control systems, documentation auditing and power distribution (high and low voltage). John is also skilled in telephone and data distribution systems, earthing and lightning protection, fire protection and detection, creating and submitting technical documentation, site facilitation, installation supervision, power monitoring and risk assessments.

Every day brings a new challenge for John, and overcoming those challenges brings him great satisfaction. Through his many years of experience he has gained valuable knowledge from designing, programming and commissioning processes in many varied fields of manufacturing.

Outside of work John likes to work around the house and in the garden. He also has a passion for restoring old muscle cars and motor racing.

Ross

Senior Control Systems Engineer

Ross is a senior engineer at Insight Engineering with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) with more than 30 years of experience. He is also qualified in electrical installations and design in hazardous areas.

Ross specialises in PLC, HMI and SCADA programming on various platforms, commissioning electrical and control systems, creation and submission of technical documentation, MCC design and process definition.

Ross enjoys taking a Project from conceptual design through the various iterations of preliminary and then detailed design. Then he hunkers down into the Coding of PLC, HMI and SCADA before delivering a Software Factory Acceptance test and Simulation if requested by the client.

Moving from the office environment to site, Ross then brings his wealth of expertise to the commissioning activities ensuring safety and meticulous attention to detail as he brings the equipment to life.

In his spare time Ross enjoys football, cricket, surfing, bush walking and skiing.

Frank

Senior Electrical Engineer

Frank is a senior electrical and process engineer with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical with Honours). Frank holds a number of other qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Engineer
  • Functional Safety Engineer – Machinery (TÜV Rheinland)
  • Victorian A-Class Electrician’s Licence
  • Type B Advanced Gasfitter
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment

Frank is a go-to man when it comes to all thing’s environment, health and safety.

He has completed training in OHS, behavioural safety, level two first aid, noise and noise control, accident investigation, enhanced driving, contractor safety management, confined spaces level two, hazard analysis, major hazard analysis and energy management. Frank is also trained in machine guarding to AS4024, Arc flash hazard safety, ergonomics for engineers, x-ray safety, and managing safety – critical instrumentation.

As a senior electrical engineer and process engineer, Frank is a key member of Insight Engineering’s electrical team. He is fluent with systems such as Allen Bradley ControlLogix, GE 90/60 PLC and Rockwell DC drives. He is a trained high voltage limited operator and recipient in charge, and understands earthing and surge protection as well as installation testing and power factor analysis.

For over three decades Frank has plied his trade in the electrical engineering industry but outside of work, he enjoys soccer, music and spending time with family.

Frank brings a unique combination of attributes to our team with his thirst for information and constant improvement. He has a passion for mentoring and sharing his knowledge with others. He is detail-minded, has a pragmatic approach to client issues and his outgoing bubbly personality often brings LOL’s to the office.

Wayne

Senior Electrical Engineer

Wayne is an experienced Electrical Engineer with a wide range of areas of expertise. Wayne has a wealth of engineering and safety-related qualifications including Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) and is a trained Functional Safety Engineer – Machinery (TÜV Rheinland).

Along with his hands-on, technical and safety skills, Wayne specialises in quality assurance, electrical design documentation, commissioning of electrical and control systems as well as creation and submission of technical documentation. He is proficient in MCC design, project management, automation and instrumentation design documentation, AutoCAD electrical drafting design, commissioning of electrical and automation control systems.

When he’s not working hard, Wayne enjoys golf and fishing, volunteers his time firefighting and assisting with rescue operations.

Bryce

Control Systems Engineer

Bryce has worked in the electrical engineering industry for more than a decade after completing a Bachelor of Electronics and Computer Systems Engineering at Swinburne University. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Business, is a NABERS accredited assessor and a trained Functional Safety Engineer (TÜV Rheinland).

Bryce is an integral part of the Insight Engineering team and has wide-ranging areas of expertise. He is skilled in PLC programming, HMI and SCADA programming on various platforms, is fluent in commissioning electrical and automation control systems, project management, process definition and electrical/automation instrumentation design documentation. Bryce is also proficient with AutoCAD electrical drafting design, QA documentation, creating and submitting technical documentation and energy audits.

Recreationally Bryce enjoys spending time with his family, cooking and making improvements around the house and garden.

Ben

Senior Control Systems Engineer (Mentor)

Ben graduated Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) from Deakin University in 2010 with honours. He pursued engineering off the back of a passion for developing viable and sustainable solutions. He is also a trained Functional Safety Engineer (TÜV Rheinland).

Ben’s areas of expertise include PLC, HMI and SCADA programming on various platforms, functional safety design, electrical design documentation, quality assurance documentation, commissioning of electrical and automation control systems, MCC design, project management, process definition, electrical/automation and instrumentation design documentation and AutoCAD electrical drafting design.

Ben also enjoys sports, including Australian Rules Football and basketball. He also likes to play the bass guitar and has a passion for classic cars. He hopes to one day own his own 1967 Mustang.

Howard

Control Systems Engineer

Howard graduated with a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from Universidad Santo Thomas in 2002. He joined Insight Engineering in 2011 as a Control Systems Engineer with expertise in PLC, SCADA, MES and Automation. In 2016, Howard moved to the Northern Territory to gain experience in Natural Gas infrastructure engineering before returning to Insight Engineering in 2017.

Howard’s range of expertise includes PLC, HMI and SCADA programming on various platforms, commissioning electrical and control systems, creation and submission of technical documentation-most often Functional Design Specifications.

Outside of work Howard enjoys playing his electronic drums, travelling, bushwalking and catching up with friends.

LISA

Senior Control Systems Engineer

Lisa is a senior engineer at Insight Engineering with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Systems Engineering), as well as a Bachelor of Computing with more than 20 years of experience. Lisa loves that her work has allowed her to travel to many different countries, and sites to work on different projects.

Lisa’s areas of expertise include PLC, HMI and SCADA programming on various platforms, functional safety design, electrical design documentation, quality assurance documentation, commissioning of electrical and automation control systems, project management, process definition, electrical/automation and instrumentation design documentation and AutoCAD electrical drafting design.

Lisa started working in the engineering field, while studying at university. Starting out designing equipment for aluminium smelter plants with Rockwell HMI’s, PLC & SCADA, but expanded into other forms of hardware and processes including, rock crushing, water and emulsion manufacturing.

Outside of work Lisa enjoys travel, being out in nature, obstacle course races, the beach, and snowboarding in winter.

 

Thomas

Control Systems Engineer

Tom graduated Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) and Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Modelling) from Deakin University in 2012. During his time at Deakin, Tom was awarded the Alfred Deakin Medal and Engineers Australia award for outstanding academic achievement.

Tom thoroughly enjoys the variety of work that he does and loves the reward from problem solving. He aspires to perfection and “getting it done right the first time”.

Tom’s range of expertise includes PLC programming, HMI and SCADA programming, electrical design documentation, quality assurance documentation and the commissioning of electrical and control systems. He is also skilled in creating and submitting technical documentation, project management, process definition, electrical/automation and instrumentation design documentation, AutoCAD electrical drafting and design.

Outside of work, Tom enjoys listening to a variety of music and podcasts, spending time with his family and creating in his maker space. Tom also enjoys skiing the slopes with his favourite trip being to Nozawa Onsen, Japan.

Tim

Control Systems Engineer

Tim joined Insight in 2017 as an Undergraduate Engineer. He has completed a double degree of Bachelor of Engineering/ Information Technology with majors in Mechatronics and Software Development.

Tim specialises in PLC programming, SCADA and HMI programming and is Gold Certified (8.1 + 7.9) in Ignition Vision and Perspective. Tim skills extend to MES development utilising Sepasoft Ignition modules and custom solutions, Track & Trace and OEE specialist and site commissioning. One of Tim’s favourite memories is his work trip to Dubai in early 2020 with the high pressure and challenging work testing his broad range of skills. Tim found interest in both the work and exploring the local area in his downtime.

In his spare time, Tim enjoys playing Tennis and playing video games with his wife.

Sam

Control Systems Engineer

Sam joined Insight Engineering in 2018 as an Undergraduate Engineer while he was completing the final semester of his Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours.

Sam is experienced in PLC, HMI and SCADA programming on various platforms as well as fault finding. He enjoys working on UX (user experience) and UI (user interface) programming and learning new skills in this field. Sam is detail orientated and enjoys the satisfaction of getting things right the first time while providing top-quality outcomes for clients.

In his spare time, Sam enjoys spending time with his dog Alfie, family, playing videos games and learning horology.

Kristopher

Graduate Electrical Control Systems Engineer

Kris first joined Insight as an Undergraduate Engineer as a part of his Work Integrated Learning (WIL) in mid-2022. He has since completed his studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Mechatronics with Honours. During his time at Insight, Kris has found the problem solving related to this industry of work immediately rewarding. He finds great satisfaction using the Ignition platform, and has recently completed the gold certification test.

Apart from tending to his aquariums or working on his car, Kris enjoys reading, playing video games, and takes pride in his collections. An eager traveller, Kris has seen much of Asia and longs to see more of the world alongside friends.

 

Thomas

Control Systems & Electrical Engineer

Tom started at Insight Engineering while studying back in 2016. He completed his degree at Deakin University and graduated as an Electrical and Electronic Engineer. One of his fondest jobs was when he travelled to the NT working on a gold mine in 2019. Tom really enjoyed learning about the process to make gold.

Tom likes working with the Ignition platform and is a certified Ignition Integrator. His manager would say he is “a developing young engineer who is embracing the design, programming and commissioning of electro mechanical systems”.

After hours you’ll find Tom working on the family farm or spending time with mates. He loves to travel – already seeing much of Europe and Asia. Recreationally he likes playing cricket and getting out on the snowboard.

Harry

Graduate Control Systems Engineer

In 2022, Harry began his Work Integrated Learning journey with us. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, he officially joined us full-time in late 2023. Harry is now enthusiastically expanding his practical skills and gaining invaluable real-world exposure.

Harry finds fulfillment in the diversity of tasks at Insight, ranging from programming assignments to electrical drafting.

Beyond his professional commitments, Harry finds enjoyment in leisure activities, including playing golf alongside friends, training his dog named Winnie, and has an interest in the sport of indoor bouldering.

Richard

Control Systems & Electrical Engineer

Richard has worked as an Electrical Design and Control Systems Engineer since 2012 before joining our team at Insight in mid-2021. He has completed large and small scale projects, both nationally and internationally.

Richard’s expertise includes Hazardous Area classification, process design, sports lighting design, electrical and instrumentation design, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA programming and CAD drafting. Richard is an excellent communicator and has highly developed skills in root cause analysis and problem solving.

Outside of work Richard enjoys spending time with his young family.

Hoang

Control Systems Engineer

Meet Hoang, an accomplished individual who graduated with a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours) from Deakin University. With a strong academic foundation, Hoang’s practical expertise shines through his hands-on experiences, which include installing Robot Welding Cells and working with various machinery. Proficient in robotics, PLC, and HMI, Hoang’s current focus is on expanding his knowledge by delving into Ignition SCADA and SQL. Impressively, he holds a forklift license and is skilled in driving forklift trucks.

His daily pursuits involve reading, cooking, and immersing himself in music. Notably, he balances his technological prowess with a love for sports, enjoying biking and surfing.

Jesse

Undergraduate Electrical Engineer

Jesse commenced his Work Integrated Learning program with us in 2023 with a Diploma of Engineering from The Gordon Institute already in hand. He is currently completing a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and is set to graduate later this year. In parallel with his studies, Jesse is actively engaged in a part-time role at Insight, working alongside our experienced Engineers, gaining invaluable knowledge and first-hand exposure. He is enjoying the opportunity to apply his studies to real life electrical drafting and site visits with our senior engineers.

Beyond pursuing his Engineering Qualifications, Jesse enjoys playing soccer locally, video games and travelling.
